We would generally agree that running a marathon would be a significant event for the body and would likely agree that a well-thought out, individualized, long-term training regimen would make sense to prepare for the marathon. Birthing a baby is also a significant event for the body, but for some reason, it isn’t common for us to think of that same training regimen; we’re more likely to brace ourselves for impact and hope for the best. But there is SO much we can do to prepare our bodies for birth during pregnancy, and it is especially needed when modern-day life has become more sedentary. As a certified Body Ready Method pro®, I am dedicated to helping you prepare your body for birth and the postpartum period.

What is Body Balancing?
Through relaxing, yoga-like movement, Body Balancing sessions prepare your body for birth during pregnancy and help to aid in an easier postpartum recovery. These 30- or 60-minute sessions encourage playful curiosity with body alignment, strengthening and balancing ligaments and muscles, and optimizing the body for the best birth possible. I weave together principles from both prenatal yoga and the Body Ready Method® to create unique Body Balancing sessions.
Body Ready Method® is based on 5 pillars: Upper Body Mobility, Core, Pelvis, Pelvic Floor, and Movement Patterns. Incorporating these pillars into your movement during pregnancy can help
– Have a more efficient birth
– Minimize pregnancy aches and pains
– Optimize recovery
– Minimize unnecessary abdominal separation and pelvic floor dysfunction
– Optimize pelvic floor responsiveness
– Work smarter not harder
Many of the same principles that support pregnancy actually support the body during postpartum as well. These sessions aim to help you reconnect with your core and pelvic floor and to provide some nourishing movement during this healing time.
Currently, only individual sessions are offered, but check back here or on social media for group offerings in the future.
